ANGUS LUSCOMBE
Course Leader
Angus Luscombe has been involved in 3d animation and visual effects for over 20 years. Alongside an active freelance career in broadcast television, (Discovery Channel, Darlow Smithson, Fulham FC, Mediahouse, Viacom) he has also worked at Illumia on a BAFTA winning gaming project.
He spent 11 years at the UAL as a senior lecturer, course leading a 3d modelling course; as well as working on games and animation degrees at both Chelsea School of Art and the London College of Communication.
Having completed his Masters at Middlesex University Angus continues to enjoy exploring new and developing technologies. He has a keen interest in anatomy and the human form, how that is translated into digital sculpture and in what way technology can create and communicate realistic emotion.
FLORIAN STEPHENS
Senior Lecturer
An experienced Educator. Florian is a highly motivated Senior Lecturer, having worked both in Higher and Further Education for the last 14 years since his first teaching post at the Slade School of Art, UCL in 2001. Committed to delivering a high-class student experience, it is a core belief of Florian’s that classroom delivery should be tailored to closely match real world professional projects, standards and expectations. This is reflected in Florian’s experience in delivering modules across Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes within art, design and media. His experience has been gained working at several central London Universities. Whilst 3D Animation and Digital Media remains Florian’s specialty, of which the educational focus is within Visual Effects Film and Media, Florian also has extensive experience delivering modules on MSc undergraduate courses and within different disciplinary fields.

Professional in Computer Generated Imagery. With an accomplished portfolio as a commercial 3D Artist, Florian has a unique combination of creativity and technical excellence. Florian has worked with numerous clients in the areas of broadcast and visualization and in visual effects production. Projects he has worked on include 3D animated shorts for BBC broadcast; CBBC, BBC4, UKTV and BBC1, SKY, National Geographic, MTV and Channel 4. Florian has also collaborated on music promos for record labels including Zuma records and Biglife recordings. Other commercial clients include Loreal, Kelly Hoppen, Rimmel London, Barclays, and Mydeco.
JAMES TAYLOR
VFX Technician
Since graduating with a degree in Media Production James has enjoyed an extremely active career in the media industry boasting over 10 years of experience. Working across various media platforms ranging from broadcast, promos, TV advertisements, ident’s and social media content.

James has worked on branded content for diverse clientele including O2, Nationwide, Coors Light, Sure for Men, EasyJet and CNN to name a few.
​
He is still an avid practitioner focusing mainly on independent short film and other short form content.
​
Having gained this invaluable experience working within the media industry he is looking to nurture the next generation of talent at UWL.
JAY SHIN
Lecturer
Jay Shin is a game developer, business owner and educator from the UK. She is a co-founder and director of an indie game studio, Arrogant Pixel LTD which is best known for releasing a pixel-art, point and click adventure series, 'The Tale of Doris and the Dragon'.
She is a course leader and senior lecturer on the Games, Design and Animation course at the University of West London and is currently working towards a PhD in Project Management at Birkbeck College, University of London: Investigating project management and the business of independent game development - a study of start-up companies in the UK digital gaming industry.
Recently, she has been elected to the UKIE board and is involved publicly with Women in Games as an Ambassador. She also works with the following orgs: ShePlaysPodcast, Game Dev London and Project AWR (Asian Women Representation).
JASON MARTINE
Lecturer
Jason is a Emmy nominated Freelance 3D Visual Effects Artist. Since 2007 he has worked primarily in Broadcast Documentaries. Prior to this, for six years Jason was the Lead VFX artist at the IMG Media internal Visual Effects Department "Mediahouse GFX".
From 2011 to 2013 he headed up the internal Visual Effects Department at Darlow Smithson Productions.
Since 2013 Jason now runs his own VFX company. Plastic Egg LTD.

NILLY BROOK
Lecturer
Nilly graduated from the London Animation Studio, Central Saint Martins (UAL) in 2004 with a postgraduate diploma in Character Animation. Since then she has worked as a freelance animator and Maya generalist at a number of animation studios across London including: The Mill, Studio AKA, Darlow Smithson and Smithereen.
Alongside her freelance work Nilly has been lecturing at a number of universities and institutions Including: The National Film and Television School, London Southbank University, Central Saint Martins, WImbledon Art School, Escape Studios, Music Hackspace, Training Dragon and Academy Class.
Over the past few year Nilly’s creative practice has focused on music composition, production and audio-visual performance.

JOSH PARKS
Compositor
Josh is an experienced compositor who has worked within the industry for many years at various companies such as ILM, DNEG, MPC, Bluebolt and The Mill just to name a few.
He specialises in Compositing within Nuke, as well as roto prep and python scripting. His work and articles have featured in 3D World, 3D Artist magazine, CGtuts+, 3DTotal and 3dvf.
It is a pleasure to have Josh come in and pass on his valuable knowledge to our students. Without his help the students wouldn't be able to take their work onto the next level. Josh is able to offer insight to what it is like to work within industry and this can help our students decide on their own career path.

LEE MONTGOMERY
Industry Professional
Lee has almost 20yrs professional experience in 3D Animation, Game development, Virtual Reality and Design Visualisation having worked with development studios and partners including Rockstar Games, IO interactive, Electronic Arts, Sony Interactive, Framestore, Autodesk, Weta Digital and Siemens.

Lee has been instrumental within the Games industry having worked on Grand Theft Auto as a senior artist and character actor with notable highlights working with Hollywood talent including Ray Liotta, Kyle McLachlan and Dennis Hopper. Lee has a wealth of knowledge that covers a breadth of disciplines which include motion capture animator, pipeline consultant and working at Autodesk offering solutions and services to creative industries.

Lee has also expanded his professional profile in publishing an animation guide for Maya with Focal Press in 2011 as well as expanding industry reach in delivering lectures during Autodesk University (Las Vegas, 2012) and the Get In The Game Universities career tours during 2015 – 2017 in the UK.

Lee’s most recent experience with Speech Graphics in Edinburgh during 2018 has allowed him to expand his experience in working on technical character setup and animation for clients leveraging Speech graphics facial animation technologies in the Games, VR and commercial markets. Successful product evaluations and production implementations for Epic Games (Fortnite), Electronic Arts and Samsung (Mobile/VR) were completed during 2018 in collaboration with our internal product development teams and partners. Technologies leveraged alongside Autodesk Maya and our internal plugins and tools included the Unreal and Unity game engines which were used for pre-visualisation and authoring for game and VR.
